1. Hello? -  Tools and thoughts for a more inclusive and equal community - event

How could your organisation or community be even more appealing, more inclusive and how to better take diversity into consideration when planning events? How could your community be even better and welcoming for all?

HYY organises and equality and inclusiveness themed training evening to Siltavuorenpenkere on 11 December. All organisation actives and other interested in the topic are welcome to join!

The event aims to offer new insights on the various ways of how to make an organisation or community and its actions as equal and inclusive as possible. The event is also a perfect chance for newly elected board members and actives to get a headstart and absorb ideas for the upcoming year.

More specific content and the schedule for the event will be published on Tuesday 5 December when the sign up opens. The event is organised in cooperation with the University of Helsinki.

Tapahtuma järjestetään suomeksi. Pyrimme auttamaan muiden kielitarpeiden mukaan parhaamme mukaan. Tila on esteetön. Tapahtumassa on kahvitarjoilu.

The event is held mostly in Finnish, but we will do our best to help out with other language requirements. The place is accessible by wheelchair.

2. Organisation – to still got time to respond to the equality survey and win a free reservation at Sivistys!

HYY’s equality and organisational sectors have created an equality survey for organisations in order to chart the situation in organisations and to develop HYY’s equality activities and training. The survey is aimed at organisations operating under HYY. We hope to receive one (1) answer per organisation. We will raffle a free reservation at Sivistys for spring 2019 among the organisations that respond to the survey.

The survey is open from 6 to 30 November. The survey: https://www.lyyti.in/Yhdenvertaisuuskysely_jarjestoille_2621/en

3. Welcome Fair on January 9, 2018 at the Language Centre!

It is possible for student organisations within HYY to participate in the Welcome Fair for international degree and exchange students. The event takes place at the Language Center of the University of Helsinki on 9th of January between 10 and 16 p.m. The places available for student organisations are limited.

4. Survey: international students in organisations

HYY is making a survey to investigate organisations’ best practices concerning internationality, the challenges they have and the things HYY could support organisations in. Responding to the survey only takes a couple of minutes but the information is very valuable to us! https://www.lyyti.fi/reg/Kansainvaliset_opiskelijat_jarjestoissa_2382/en

Thank you!

5. Sign up your organisation for the Students’ Independence Day Procession!

Using the form, please inform us whether your organisation is participating with your flag in placing the wreaths at Sankariristi and the procession or just the procession. Please fill in the form as soon as possible and by 11.59 pm on 3 December 2018 at the latest. 6. Evening on financial statements on 4 December 2018

HYY is organising an evening on financial statements aimed at the treasurers of organisations operating under HYY on 4 December. During the evening, you will learn how to make an association’s financial statements. Authorised Public Accountant Johanna Hilden will act as the trainer on the course, which is held in Wilhelmsson Hall at 5–8 pm. Unfortunately, the premises are not accessible.

The training session will include the use of the Tilitin software, so we ask that participants bring their own computers with them and install the program in advance. Tilitin can be downloaded for free here: http://helineva.net/tilitin/. There is a limited number of wall sockets on the premises, so we recommend that participants charge their computer before the event.

You can send questions to the trainer in advance. If you already know you will have several tricky problems with topics such as calculating the balance sheet, expenses included in the income statement, posting receipts or anything else related to creating financial statements, send your question to Johanna at johanna.hilden [at] outlook.com.

Sign up for the training session by 1 December using this e-form: https://elomake.helsinki.fi/lomakkeet/93274/lomake.html

7. Organisation active - join HYY's Student Organisations Committee!

Do you like organisations and organisation actives? Come and make HYY the best it can be for organisations and actives!

The Student Organisations Committee participates in the development of the operating conditions for organisations within HYY in cooperation with the specialist and the board member in charge. During the year, the committee for example organises two chairpersons’ seminars and Street sitsit at the Opening Carnival, distributes the user hours for Alina Hall and executes the user trainings, organises contests for organisations, and participates in the development of the operating grant allocation for organisations. On top of that the committee visits places like HYY’s archives and different organisational premises and learns about the kind of activities those organisations organise.

The election meeting is held at HYY’s central office (Mannerheimintie 5 A, 2nd floor) at meeting room Topelius at 6 pm. Next year’s chairpersons and secretaries will be elected at the meeting and overall the meeting is a great place to get to know the committee and perhaps join it for next year!
