HYY has appointed BA Aino Jones as Specialist for international affairs and sustenance for the fixed period of 17 Aug 2015–15 Apr 2017.
Specialist is the main responsible in HYY for sustenance affairs and advocacy work of international students of the University of Helsinki. She monitors the internationalization of the university and is in charge of integrating international students into the student community. Sustenance advocacy entails students’ financial aid and welfare: detecting, topicalizing and influencing pitfalls in student welfare, and also communicating about issues concerning the economy and welfare of international students to members of the student union.
Jones has previously worked as office secretary at the University of Helsinki and as project coordinator for Helsinki Education and Research Area HERA organizing events and participating in advocacy work for international students. In 2012 Jones was HYY Member of the Board in charge of international affairs and housing. She has also held a variety of positions of responsibility in HYY, the administration of the University of Helsinki and HYY Group. Jones studies General Linguistics at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Helsinki.
