Anu Aarnio appointed as HYY’s chairperson

The Representative Council of the Student Union of the University of Helsinki (HYY) voted in its meeting on 17 Dec 2013 Master of Arts (Education) Anu Aarnio as the chairperson of the Student Union. Aarnio HYY’s Board Member in charge of academic affairs in 2009 and currently works as a teacher.

Master of Arts Ville Ylikahri was appointed as the first vice chair of the Student Union and Doctor of Medical Science Sami Heistaro the second vice chair.

The Student Union of the University of Helsinki was founded in 1868 and it is the oldest and largest student union in Finland. It consists of approximately 28,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students Of the University of Helsinki. The Representative Council of 60 members is the highest decision-making body in the Student Union. HYY’s chairperson leads the Representative Council meetings and acts as the representative of the Student Union. The board is led by the chairperson of the board.
