Application round for development co-operation project funding opened

03.03.2014

Do you know a reliable developing country NGO that needs funding for a small-scale development project?

The Student Union of the University of Helsinki (HYY) directs 0,7 % of its annual budget to development co-operation. In 2014, part of this is directed to projects focused on education, especially education for children and youth and/or basic education.

The project funds are meant as one-time support for developing country NGOs. Applicants should have received funding from an NGO registered in Finland during the last two years or have a working relationship with a Finnish NGO that is a member of the Finnish Service Centre for Development Co-operation (Kepa ry). This relation should be stated in the application. Funding will not be given to those projects that received HYY project funding on the application period of 2013.

The annual budget of the developing-country NGO applying for funding should not exceed 100 000 euros. The project should be based in the developing country, be initiated by local people and aim to support the most vulnerable parts of the society. HYY has altogether 12 000 euros of funding available and this will be granted to two projects, each with a maximum budget of 6 000 euros per project. The project should run for a maximum of one year and the support will be granted in May 2014.

The application should be written in English or French and include a budget plan in euros. The chosen NGOs are pledged to produce a report after the completion of the project.

If you know an NGO that fits the criteria, please ask them to contact us at hyy.projectfunds(at)gmail.com and ask for an application form.

The deadline for the applications is on 28.3.2014 at 9 pm (GMT+2).
