By the Rector's decision, it is possible to include 10 credits of administrative and organisational activities in the degrees undertaken in the faculties of the University of Helsinki. Currently, all 11 faculties of the University of Helsinki allocate at least some credits for the work of elected officials.
The various faculties, however, have different practices on the allocation of credits and how students are informed about this opportunity in general. The Student Union of the University of Helsinki reviewed the practices of all the faculties and gathered them together. Based on the emerged problems, the student union presents recommendations in the report in order to create more student-friendly and equal practices.
HYY recommends that the faculties create a clear practice on how to apply for credits and inform the students about the opportunity to receive credits in connection with other study modules. In HYY's view, the activities of all organisations within the student union and the student union activities as such should be worth credits in all faculties.
Based on the report, the student union has also compiled an information package on how to apply for credits in each faculty, which is available on HYY's website.
Report and information package are unfortunately available only in Finnish. Contact your faculty for information how to apply for credits.
