The HYY Committee for Cultural Affairs has chosen as the recipient of the prize for Bilingual Feat of 2015 the Finnish Student Health Service Foundation. The award is presented annually to a person, organization, or other group for considerable effort in maintaining and improving bilingualism, and the use of both Finnish and Swedish.
The reason for presenting FSHS with the award were the foundation’s remarkable and persevering efforts to improve its ability to offer its services in Swedish in all situations.
The award, a diploma and a gift hamper, were presented to Tapio Hyrkäs, the director of the Helsinki-Espoo Area Healthcare Unit, at a ceremony at HYY’s central offices. The ceremony, on November 6, marked Swedish Day, a national celebration of the Swedish-speaking minority.
